Overview

Kad Iyäf-slosta was founded durring the late 14th century in spring of the year 1285, by Geth. The establishment of Kad Iyäf-slosta suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Kad Iyäf-slosta which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Kad Iyäf-slosta was built using the conventions of Gnoll durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Kad Iyäf-slosta is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Kad Iyäf-slosta is was constructed arround several spacious baked earthen mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The city has a defencive wall made from large clay bricks. The wall is constructed to the exact specifications of millitary fortifications, but the nature of its clay brick construction leaves it vulnerable to even outdated siege equipment. That said, the city is well defended against anything short of an army. Kad Iyäf-slosta's brittle defences are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

A look around Kad Iyäf-slosta has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scuttling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s all of those things together, or perhaps it's the way these elements combine with the simple fact that it is abundantly clear Kad Iyäf-slosta suffered something horrible some time ago. It's as if the town itself is depressed. Smiles are few, cheer is nowhere to be had. Everyone quietly goes about their daily business not looking anyone in the eye. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Kad Iyäf-slosta long.

Cultural Notes

Kad Iyäf-slosta's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by towering round arches, massive stone and brickwork, small windows, thick walls, and a propensity for housing art and sculpture depicting mythological scenes. The building's general shape would be a clever and ascetic combination of geometric shapes, which would be blended together by joining elements. The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..

In Kad Iyäf-slosta every night at precisely midnight every structure in town is engulfed by sailors fire until the end of the witching hour.

Points of Interest

Kad Iyäf-slosta is remarkably well-fortified for a site of its size and role. Tall, stout walls, strong points inside the community, concentric defenses, a strategic terrain location, or a large body of standing troops might be present. Some threat is thought to exist that makes maintaining this fortification worthwhile, though it may come at a dear cost to the locals. The community’s suzerain may be uncomfortable with these defenses, as they could just as easily be used to defy the ruler.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Kad Iyäf-slosta was attacked by soldiers from another nation, with orders to raid Kad Iyäf-slosta. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Kad Iyäf-slosta lost 277 people, 343 livestock, and 85 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 34, when members of Kad Iyäf-slosta's militia enacted an operation to deliver supplies to a specific bridge. The operation was complicated by an outbreak of plague which struck the ranks, killing many and laying low many more. The conflict ended with the defense of the bridge against a siege, which ended in defeat for Kad Iyäf-slosta's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Kad Iyäf-slosta's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
